🍁 A one-day escape that feels like a getaway

If you’re looking for an easy, unforgettable fall day trip from the city — this is it.
A morning surrounded by art and nature, an afternoon full of cider and cozy views.
No flights required, just a drive upstate to the Hudson Valley.

🖼️ Stop 1: Storm King Art Center (Cornwall, NY)

There’s something magical about Storm King in the fall.
The air is crisp, the hills roll endlessly, and massive sculptures peek through fields of golden grass.

Bring a jacket — almost everything is outdoors — and ride the tram if you want to see it all without rushing. If you’re up for some movement, rent a bike and wander at your own pace.

It’s calm here. Peaceful. Perfect for slowing down.
You’ll find yourself walking quietly, taking photos, or maybe just staring at the mountains for a while.

If you want to make it a full moment, pack a picnic — Storm King might just be one of the most beautiful date spots in the Hudson Valley.

🍎 Stop 2: Angry Orchard (Walden, NY)

After you’ve had your fill of art and nature, head to Angry Orchard, about 25 minutes away.
Yes, it’s the famous cidery — and yes, it’s worth it.

Our advice? Skip the treehouse tour and apple picking. Go straight for the food and cider.

Start with a flight — it’s kind of mind-blowing how many flavors they’ve created.
The donuts are amazing (soft, warm, and sugar-dusted perfection), and the chili fries might genuinely be the best I’ve ever had.

Then there are the slushies — completely over the top and so, so good.
I ordered one with a shot of Fireball, and it somehow made it even better.
Add a caramel-sugar rim to take it to the next level.

Like Storm King, it’s mostly outdoors, so again — bring a jacket.
There’s live music some weekends, picnic tables on the hill, and a view that makes you want to stay until the sun sets.

🚗 Why we love this day trip

It’s attainable.
One day, one tank of gas, and two completely different but perfectly paired experiences.

Storm King gives you art, calm, and space to think.
Angry Orchard gives you flavor, warmth, and a little buzz.

Together, they make for a day that feels much bigger than the miles you’ll drive.
